1: We're going to make a texture board.
This way you'll have all of your textures side-by-side on a piece of wood you can keep handy off to the side for quick reference.2: We're growing your texture skills.
Textures are unlimited. The things you can do with them are also unlimited. In this Skillbuilder, we're focused on expanding our texture capabilities. We're trying new things, looking at textures in new ways, and brewing ideas for how we can implement these new textures into our own art practice.
3: We're going to be using a blade-like nib, a rounded point nib, and "universal" type nibs.
You don't need anything fancy. Just bring your burner and whatever nibs you already have, We'll play with them in cool new ways you may have never thought of before.
4: We're going to pull inspiration from Pinterest and Unsplash.
One of the best ways to try new textures is to find them out in the wild and then mimic them. Look at reference pictures to see what textures are present and combine that with textures you know how to make to get fresh new textures that are inspired by what you actually see.
5: You'll learn about what textures I personally love to use and why I love them.
Sometimes it's helpful to see what other people are doing and hear what they like/don't like. I'll be sharing my own thoughts and opinions about different textures, and I'll give you ideas on how to implement them in your art.
